Full-sized fastener testing
LoneStar Global Test Laboratories offer full-sized fastener testing services to provide a comprehensive assessment of mechanical and physical properties to verify all customer and industry specifications are met before components reach the field.
Full-sized fastener testing in detail
Strengthened by extensive in-house capability, the LoneStar Global Test Laboratories network can undertake a broad scope of full-sized fastener evaluations that include, but are not limited to, mechanical tensile and wedge tensile testing.
Mechanical tensile testing
Mechanical tensile testing measures a fastener’s ultimate tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and ductility, providing insight into its ability to withstand operational loads without failure.
Wedge tensile testing
Wedge tensile testing is performed in accordance with ASTM F606/F606M and ISO 898-1. A hardened wedge is placed under the fastener head during tensile loading to induce bending stress at the head-to-shank fillet. The test verifies the fastener’s ability to withstand the specified tensile load without head separation, cracking, or premature failure, ensuring compliance with mechanical and performance requirements.
In addition to mechanical full-sized fastener assessments, LoneStar Global Test Laboratories also perform hardness, metallographic and chemical analysis on finished fasteners. Together, these extensive testing processes offer a complete, highly dependable picture of a fastener’s overall performance, quality and suitability for its intended application.
